Western States' Forest and Climate Change Clearinghouse
Climate change is impacting ecological, social, and economic values associated with forests in the Western US. Active management is needed. State, local, and federal governments are taking action to reduce and mitigate greenhouse gas contributions and are developing mechanisms to assist humans with anticipated climate changes. Yet, the science of climate change science is constantly evolving and impacts are occurring more rapidly than previously expected, therefore, there is a need for more education, research, and technology transfer.
In an effort to help coordinate resources and share information efficiently across the western U.S., the WFLC has created the Western States' Forest - Climate Change Clearinghouse. This clearinghouse is intended to serve as a reference website providing information for state-level climate change activities and forests in the western US. This website will provide resource managers, stakeholders and decision-makers with ready access to information on State-level climate change activities related to forests, and website links to key U.S. Forest Service and state forestry organization climate change information in the western US.
